The global AIDS pandemic is perhaps the most dire and complicated tragedy in human history, and its ramifications will affect our world in ways that we cannot imagine. There is no human wisdom or power that can stop it in time to prevent the loss and suffering of many millions of people. We need the hand of our merciful God to act on our behalf, and we trust that He will through the prayers of His people. You can join with us in our prayer ministry and pray for the specific needs of Christ’s Hope.
Choose to Wait
The emphasis of this program is on sexual purity that comes from abstinence before marriage and faithfulness in marriage. It is an outstanding AIDS prevention tool and gives youth a strong moral foundation on which to base their choices.
Foundational truths of scripture from Genesis chapter 1-3 regarding gender, love and marriage and sex are clearly taught. This provides a positive view of the equal value that both male and female have as human beings and provides skills to maintain a lifestyle of sexual fidelity in all relationships.
It is our aim to teach children and youth the following:
- You are worth waiting for. You have value because you are made in the image of God. Male and female are made in his image therefore they have equal value regardless of their different role and function.
- Sex is worth waiting for. Sex has value because it procreates the image of God.
The ultimate goal of Choose to Wait is to see redeemed people in good marriages, with happy families involved in successful work in an AIDS free world.
Mass Media Campaigns
Billboard Campaign
Another way that Christ’s Hope spreads the message of Christ and His plan for abstinence and sexual faithfulness is through mass media. Christ’s Hope has rented billboards in Namibia along major highways and has designs ready for several more. Christ’s Hope’s Choose to Wait coordinators have participated in government HIV/AIDS advocacy and prevention groups, shining the light of the truth of Christ in these forums, which usually attempt to deal with the “symptoms” of the epidemic, rather than addressing the root problem. These mass media campaigns allow Christ’s Hope International to reach a multitude of people with the message of Christ.
Poster Campaign
As a part of the Mass Media Campaigns, there has been a Choose to Wait Poster Campaign in some East African countries, like Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and also in Namibia.
